Concerning the recently rejected “shamnesty” bill.
“Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.“
My question for Mr. Lott: Who the heck do you think supports talk radio?
People do! People who care about issues. People who are interested in what is going on in this country and want to get involved. People who don’t believe amnesty is a good thing for this country. And no amount of whining, or pathetic “Are we Mice or Men” speeches in front of no-one are going to make these people disappear.
As the great Oliver Cromwell once said to the Long Parliament:
“You have sat too long for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!”
Now that is a quote.
