May 16, 2007 Eugene, Oregon: After 17 years of faithful service, First Baptist Church’s senior pastor, Kimball Hodge, has decided to retire. Pastor Kim, as he is know by First Baptist’s members, cited his limited health as a contributing factor to his decision. He also stated that the church had, “come to a wonderful time of unity and blessing,” and that it was, “now time to enter a new chapter in our church life.”
In a letter to First Baptist’s attenders, Hodge said, “Lord willing, we will have a number of months together to express our love and appreciation for one another and to pray for each other. I believe that the most exciting and fruitful years of First Baptist are yet ahead and God is already preparing the shepherd who will lead you into that future.”
He and his wife Lynda are planning to continue their ministry until September 30th, 2007. He will be greatly missed.

I just saw this. thanks for your kind words. Kimball is my dad. He and my mom are doing well and are living in town with us now in Southern Oregon. He is going to continue doing some part time ministry at a church I am on staff at as our senior’s Pastor. Hopefully as health allows, he will be with us for a while more.

The Hodges had a big impact on my life way back in their ministry in Oakland California. I wish them well. I particuarly remember burping contests at the dinner table which endeared them to me all the more.

Pastor Kim and Lynda are our best friends. We miss them here in Eugene, but continue to value their friendship by travelling, calling, e-mailing, etc. They are truly a couple to respect.

I remember Pastor Kim and Lynda from Grace Baptist in Glendora, CA. As a young believer then, I loved to go to hear his preaching. He was a wonderful pastor to all the Luis family. I appreciated Lynda’s friendship too (remember your Macau visit and Mexican food)! Fond memories =]
Thank you!
